Course Overview

The Level 4 Certificate in Applied Workplace Wellbeing Practice equips practitioners with the practical capability to apply occupational health and wellbeing principles in real organisational settings.

It strengthens confidence, builds operational competence and prepares learners to contribute meaningfully to psychosocial risk assessment, campaigns, and local wellbeing implementation under appropriate supervision.

Who is this qualification for?

This programme is designed for those who have completed Level 3 and are now involved in planning or delivering wellbeing or OH-related activity – such as stress risk assessments, local health and wellbeing campaigns, or policy implementation. Learners must have the scope within their workplace to complete applied assignments.

Foundations of Workplace Wellbeing

Understanding health, wellbeing and why it matters at work

  • What health and wellbeing mean in a workplace context
  • The link between wellbeing, performance, engagement and culture
  • Recognised workplace wellbeing models and frameworks
  • Applying wellbeing models to review current employer support
  • Personal, workplace and external factors influencing employee wellbeing

MASTERCLASS 2 – WEEK 2

The Business Case, Law and Ethical Responsibility

Making the case for wellbeing – and getting the basics right

Learning modules:

  • The cost of poor mental health for organisations, teams and individuals
  • Using absence, engagement and wellbeing data to support investment
  • Understanding key UK legislation related to mental health at work
  • Employer, manager and employee responsibilities for mental health and stress
  • Identifying gaps in policies and practices and supporting improvements

MASTERCLASS 3 – WEEK 3

Preventing Harm and Supporting People Safely

Stress, safeguarding and peer support in practice

Learning modules:

  • Supporting stress risk assessments at team and organisational level
  • Practical stress prevention and management planning
  • Safeguarding, confidentiality and responding to vulnerability and suicide risk
  • Safe peer-to-peer wellbeing roles: purpose, boundaries and protection

GROUP MENTORING – WEEK 4

Engagement, Culture and Behaviour Change

Turning good intentions into meaningful action

Learning modules:

  • Workplace culture, leadership behaviour and psychologically safe teams
  • The role of managers in supporting wellbeing day to day
  • Challenging stigma and promoting inclusion and help-seeking
  • Applying behaviour change models to workplace wellbeing
  • Designing an annual wellbeing campaign plan with accessibility and impact in mind
